Happy Birthday Dad!!!!

"Dad"....the simplicity of this palindrome hides beneath itself the massive essence of this word. For me my Dad has always been a symbol of courage, faith and support. Someone whom I unconsciously look up to, a vivid remembrance of his smiling face right from childhood which made me feel that all worries will just run off. As I grew up, some differences do crop up but theres a sense of his unflinching support somewhere at the back of my mind. That support gives me the strength to move ahead. So 2day special birthday wishes are on a roll 4 dad..:)
Sunday went as usual...lazing around and sleeping away to glory. Its really one of the blessed days of the week!!!! Cooked some dishes for Dad and he was plesantly surprised..:) And thanks to my lucky stars it was eatable 2...:) Watched some latest new Hindi film songs trailers..no interesting songs this week but there was this English song which I saw called "Come To Party" by Shania Twain and Paul McGrath...liked the song and video....some nice change!!
Hope the coming week runs off soon cos i have Diwali shopping to catch up on....

Belated Daandiya Fever.....!!!

It was that time of the month yet again....Yes Yes....the October birthday celebrations in office!!!! And no wonder i was thrilled cos a cute and nice person's birthday was there this month...:) Every month there is usually a theme for these birthday celebrations...like dress code, games etc. This time the theme was Daandiya coupled with traditional day.
So the usual jittery start of mine began......which dress to wear, what to do..what not to do.....hmmm...but finally i decided to chuck the saree thought and stuck to the usual Indian traditional attire. Even the thought of dancing in a saree shudders me. Hats off to people who manage it gracefully!!! Everyone in office was sporting enough to stick to the necessary dress code that the occasion demanded. Heavy ghagras and sarees for ladies and flowing long kurtas for men were the talk of the day!!! I remember this particular dialogue from the film "Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham" .....
Lucknow da kurta aur Pathani salwar
Tho lage mard warna lage bekaar!!!
And no prices for guessing but SRK looked awesome in that black kurta...;)

Well...so there was this competition for best dressed lady and man which was given to people who deserved it rightly. Then Daandiya began in full swing. Groovy numbers rocked the show.... prominent among the songs were the numbers "Dola Dola" from "Bride and Prejudice", "Pari Hoon Main" etc and the typical Gujju numbers. I broke 2 Daandiya sticks too..hehehe...wow..sum achievment..;) The whole event went on for 2 hours. Then of course was the cutting of the 3 kg Black Forest cake.......and this time i got 2 do the honours....so it was double temptation....felt like gobbling the whole thing up...:)!!! But i did get a decent share of the cake at the end.
Last but not the least..the match statistics. Dont wanna delve deeper in this topic cos i am seriously feeling let down by our team's performance. So absolutely no further comments...

Shaadi ya Cricket.....!!!!

This article of mine is mainly gonna be in Hindi to convey my exact sentiments....:) Actually I was thinking that there is an amazing analogy between shaadis and Indian cricket and im just trying to depict that scenario......

Wedding Card

BCCI (Bechaari Cricket Control in India)
cordially invites
one and all
to
the dhulaai ceremony
of
Aussies (Motto: Dhoyenge Unlimited)
Vs
Indians (Motto: Dhulenge Unlimited)
Venue: Nagpur
Timings: Unlimited (till 90 overs)
Band: Aussie Team
(Kyunki woh waise bhi band bajaate hain!!)
At the wedding:
First theres the toss......
(poori public aa chuki hai stadium mein...)
Spectator 1 (male): Oye...yeh kya....Dravid aa raha hai toss ke liye....Saurav kahaan hai.....??!!!
Spectator 2 (male and who has a friend in the news bureau) : Haan yaar...mujhe abhi pata chala ki mithai aur phool aaye nahi hain abhi tak..isliye woh gaya hai uska prabandh karne ke liye.....aur waise bhi hamare vice-captain Dravidji ka sasuraal hai Nagpur..!!!
Spectator 1 : Sahi yaar......double dhulaai ho jaayegi.....biwi kew haathon se bhi aur Aussies se bhi...:)
Aussies win the toss.....
Certain dialogs by each of the key players
Dravid (after Martyn's century): Kya dhulaai expert hai....Lagta hai biwi ke haathon se dhulne ka bahut experience hai!!
Martyn: Teri abhi nayi-nayi shaadi hui hai....experience aa jaayega..dont worry!!!
Clarke (to Parthiv) : Le bachche...catch practice deta hoon tujhe!!!
Parthiv : nahin nahin Clarke Uncle..aap shauk se kheliye..aaj bhi kheliye..kal bhi kheliye..bas khelte rahiye!!!
Dravid (to Parthiv during drink break) : Haath mein maska hai kya.....??!!!
Parthiv (rote hue...) : Nahin..actually Clarke uncle ne mujhe last time 150 banane ke baad chocolate di thi....isliye yeh baar maine socha 150 se jyada banane deta hoon tho phir mujhe badi gift milegi!!!!
Drinks session mein Brett Lee bhi hain maidan mein..
Spectator 3 (female): Wah....bada eligible bachelor lagta hai..suna hai use dimples bahut paand hain....apni Dimple ke liye kaisa rahega...???
Spectator 4 (female): Dimples lane ke liye kuch surgery hai kya....meri beti ke dimples nahi aate!!!
Sachin: Mujhe hi pujaari banana tha kya...sab dhone ka kaam mujhe hi karna padta hai!!! Ek tho jise phool aur mithai laane bheja tha woh tho gaayab hi ho gaya hai!!! Pata nahi kidhar ka "Dada" samajhta hai khudh ko!!!
At the end of the days cermony:
Dravid (singing a song): Shaayad meri dhulaai ka khayaal
Dil mein aaya hai
Isiliye biwi ne meri
mujhe mere sasuraal
bulaya hai!!
Dhulaai score: 362/7
In short....was amazed to see the scores..people playing hide-and-seek....1 day in the team..the other day out of the team. Rise above petty politics in sports..play to the best of your limits.....winning or losing is not important but at least give ur best shot!!! mujhe tho lag raha hai ki Border-Gavaskar trophy ki bidaai ka waqt aagaya hai!!! lets c..neways its a 5-day cermony..:)

At Crossroads.......

Well i guess my blog has started to become a weekly one and as usual i have no excuses whatsoever. I just lose track of how time flies by....and this time the journey has been like a walk, lost in the woods. I am just walking .....there are small pebbles on the way , big boulders on the sides ,birds fluttering by,the stream water making gurgling sounds.....and I am just trudging along admiring the nature, avoiding the minor obstacles and carrying on undeterred. I am in search of a road nearby from where i can get a lift perhaps......
On the way I see some birds building their nests, spiders spinning their webs, rabbits running away playfully, monkeys swinging from tree to tree and making faces, a lion eating its prey, an eagle swooshing by picking up the same prey and flying off its majestic flight....i observe these natural things, i ponder and move ahead. Why do i see an uncanny similarity between each of these actions and to the different kind of people one sees in life???
Suddenly I see a small pathway branching out into a road. I am there....but its a junction now..its a crossroad!! I have to halt....I have to think which way to go.....I have to decide calmly and also rely on my gut instinct to a certain extent. But luckily i get a lift till the next junction.....some people tell me that there are multiple routes to reach my destination....they drop me till the nearest place from where I can proceed with my journey ahead since they are going in a different route. But then there again theres another crossroad. I realise that at some point I have to choose a route because everytime I cant keep getting lifts nor can i keep waiting for them. I have chosen a route with the hope that this will lead to the place where I want to go..........

Birthday hangover...??!!!!!

The cutest and the nicest day of the year indeed arrived with a bang and it turned out to be a nice, quiet and calm day......in short just how a birthday should be!!!
Birthdays for me have always signified a lot of things.....a day when you are the centre of attraction, getting gifts, people bear and listen to everything u say, nice things to eat, no sermons for a change fro m anyone that day, chocolates, cakes, balloons(i still like them..:-))!!! These things form the lighter side of the day.
But birthdays have also always meant wishes pouring in from all quarters, your near and dear ones remembering you, friends calling up at the wee hours of the morning because ultimately what matters is the "thought"!!! It also means getting older...though i have never had any hangups about it. I also land up reminiscing about my earlier birthdays and the experiences that i have had each year which have always thought be something or the other!!!! So the hangover what i meant is not in the literal sense of the word..;)..but it is not to be hung up on small things for too long..and learn to be calm and composed.
So this birthday..of course the birthday tradition of cake-cutting remained intact and all delicious items prepared by mom.....the only thing missing was no shopping cos i was not well this time 2 manage shopping..but im sure ill catch up on that soon. All my frenz had called up and felt really nice to be a part of their thoughts though i know i dont need an occasion for that...:-)
Happy Dussehra to one and all!!!

Lazing arnd....

Sunday was a well-deserved break and needed sometime to chill. So caught up on "Bride and Prejudice"...though on hindsight now me wondering why did I...??? For me the only saving grace of the film was Martin Henderson who played the character called William Darcy and he looks cute and awesome..;) Otherwise the film is one entire khichdi with people just trotting between three places...Amritsar, London and LA. There are just 1-2 good songs which are nice to hear. That the duration of the film was just 2 hours was some solace for me when i left the theatre and thank god i saw the English version and not the Hindi one. Guess the film would be better if i narrated it...;) But all in all "Bend It Like Beckham" was much more bearable than this.
Did not go to work today since i was not feeling well. Just took rest and sort of caught up on the extended weekend. So the countdown begins to what i call the most cutest and the nicest day of the year...hehhehe!!!! Dunno what surprise is waiting round the corner...hmmmm......whatever it is..i like surprises!!! :-)
Feeling sorry for the Indians......and i was wondering why did it have to rain on the fifth day!!!! Hard luck....and Aussies escaped safely with a draw!! Not fair...hmmm...but all's not last...after this performance i feel that we are not gonna give up easily.....and let me just hope for now that we win the next match ( and the series...:-))

Day swings......?????

The earth rotates in some momentum and what is experienced are the changes what we call in geographical terms as day, night, sunrise, sunset etc......and in normal daily terms we use sentences like "my day's just started","my days just ended". Sometimes i wonder what would have happened if all of us were also rotating...would have been one roller-coaster ride....i mean rotating offices, rotating shops, rotating schools....it would be so kool. But then when i stop to give it a thought i find that all this is happening......though not in the exact sense of people flying around...but still it is happening to a certain extent!!
The day swings gradually but i guess more so cause it dances to our mood tunes....i mean the day is bright and sunny all of a sudden and suddenly u just wish when is the day gonna end. So ultimately sometimes even natural occurences are subjected to our terms and conditions. And life is anyways a roller-coaster ride with free rides been given to everyone and that too age no bar..;)!!! So if we were also rotating along with this roller-coaster ride...it would have been bizarre....hehehe!!!
Sehwag's 150 also proved that the day swung in our favour......and again there was a sudden fall of wickets...again the day swung.....gosh....days are really swinging...24 hours is indeed a lotta time ..cause such a lot of things happen and still i give the excuse of "no time"....hmmm....sigh!!!!
Anyways as long as days swing..just rock and roll......but dont lose the momentum and balance...hold on!!!!!

Hi blog...

Its been real long since i paid a visit to my blog and did sum writing honours...but one thing is for sure that i have been thinking about it each time but alas...its the same age-old excuse of no time...but this time i have decided 2 make it sound a little authenticated..."i genuinely had no time"!!!!...:-)
Life's been catching up with coding being the prime contender of sorts along with abundant comments and errors......well wat the heck right...who doesnt make errors and who doesnt get comments....i have learnt to take everything in my stride now in a much better manner.....so some less baggage to carry ultimately. Plus not to forget the air-conditioner in the office which has been chilling me out completely.....plan to break it some day...or mebbe lets c...if i break the glass door which is the entry into my cubicle then it wid be better cos then AC can't be switched on.....though nowadays its much more bearable!!!
Caught up with Maiths over the weekend...was really nice talking to her after a long time. Just didnt come to know how time flew off!! The pizza is still due and i plan to take a double offer the next time round...;) My friends in US seemed to have enjoyed the Metallica concert completely which was amazing but for a perfect description of the live concert this is indeed worth reading!!!! Though i am not into the Metallica kind of music but still i did come to know that such concerts can be enjoyed and its not plain noise!!
Well i sign off now and would like to add that ull see my next blog pretty soon and if not then believe me itll be a genuine excuse again....;) Hey and hope to see some comments from everyone tooo......genuine comments..hehhehee...:-)

Another day rolls by.......

Have to start with the absolutely yummmmmmmmy cake that i was looking forward to in my last post. The September birthday celebrations of office colleagues went off pretty welll and as usual it was fun, singing, games and of course hogging...:-) This time around it was a black forest cake of 3 kgs with red cherries and looked amazin......and on top of that it seemed like an impending wait for the cake to b cut. Then there was chaat(sev-puri,ragda pattice kinds) which i freak out on and of course the number of helpings that i sneaked in 4 each of these.....me so proud of myself..;)
There were random songs sung by ppl. It was complete national integration with Marathi,Bengali,Hindi songs and a lil bit of English 2. The background score on the casio came out really well and supplemented the song renditions beautifully. It was mainly old Hindi songs like Jaanejaan,Roop Tera Mastana,Sach Keh Raha hai Deewana and Chura Liya(sung by me partly....well Shruts.....tat bit of info was just 4 u....its reely time 4 u take my autograph and ya the whole office was subjected to this cacophony as u mention it.....get bak 2 me on this..;)..) Was reely a well-deserved break from coding!!
Phal..thanx 4 certifying my blog-writin....dont worry....ill keep writin interestin stuff 4 u.....;)
As far as the general news goes...well it seems Kerry is leading after the first round of debates...hmm. Maharashtra Assembly elections r up on Oct 13th..though me least interested in politics...(this news is just 4 Phal cos shes now more than 18..;) and since she doesnt find time 2 read newspapers...hehehe!) .Sachin has been named in the Test squad 4 the 1st 2 Test matches...thats sum solace!! A drug 4 arthritis called Roffib or Rofitax has been banned in US cos of adverse effects like heart attacks and its found that it is still available in the Indian markets.....looks like a pretty common drug..dunno much..wud like my medical friends 2 take up from there..(hari,sangi.,anyone..:-))
Have a nice weekend...adios!!!
