Mobile Sayings....

Speaking on cellphones, especially when one is travelling is a pain most of the times, but sometimes it turns out to be a laughing riot at that moment. There's this friend of mine called Arvind and we generally get time to catch up only when we are travelling. So2-3 days before, our topic somehow diverted toHindi sayings. And he's an absolute duh in em. So i was trying to teach him the meanings of some sayings that i use quite frequently. So since he was travelling, first i landed up explaining the saying word-by-word from Hindi to English and then explaining the real meaning of the statement. So the conversation went like:

D: Meri billi mujhi se Miaow!!
A: Dilli y u going??
D: Gosh , I meant my cat miaow to me:p
A: Oh cat, say like that na then...tell in english so i understand hindi better!!
D: U r useless, kaala akshar bhains barabar!
A: Eh, whats that now..i av never heard this before. what does this mean?
D: U av never heard this b4:o?? How come??
A: I av not..so explain
D: Okie...black words equal buffalo:p!!
A: Achcha, now what does that saying mean??
D: (So i tell the meaning) ulta chor kothwal ko daante!
A: Now y u taking me to police station re??
D: Im like lol....opposite thief shouting at hawaldaar
A: Who made all these sayings????
D: I dunno but y u sounding like a katputhli?? (cos I was so sure he wudnt knw the meaning of the word;) )
A: Bumble bee...y bumble bee??

The conversation was so hilarious. I don't know if I have been able to reproduce the humour in the conversation in the writing, but 1ce u kinda play the conversation back in your head and imagine the situation, its funny:D!!! So keep saying on the mobile:p!!

An Itsy Bitsy Change...

Blog templates also get worn out after sometime, i guess. And weirdly they land up becoming a strange identity of you. I kinda got bored of the previous blog template and so decided to go for a teeny-weeny blog makeover. This time i consciously did not go for pink for obvious reasons as peopel had started associating me with that colour. So this time i opted for green cos it brings out the vibrance and also the fact that one should enjoy this moment, the present. So people dont be surprised, as to where you have landed, cos you are very much at the right place!! Keep "living everyday to the fullest"...:)

Players....

The soldiers advanced slowly...
In pure colours of black and white,
They just looked dressed to kill...
With eyes blazing like lanterns,
They gazed at each other...

The sound of horses' hooves,
Were not far behind...
Riders, they did not need,
Cos they had surpassed many-a-hurdles...

The knights came marching,
In a manner that was like the radiant sun...
The eyes were still looking at each other,
Gazing at the knight in shining armour...

The elephants took their maddening large strides,
Trampling some soldiers mercilessly beneath....
They just went marching straight,
Holding their positions was their main aim...

The king stood deserted in a castle,
The queen stood decked her best...
She strode her perfect walk,
And swept all obstacles away with her magic wand...

She walked into the castle,
And told the king "Checkmate"...
The king gave an assuring smile,
And said, "Yes, I am your mate"...

Yes, that was him and me, playing the magnificent game of chess:)

Rangoli Times....

Well, I had told some of my friends about the rangoli that I made at our college entrance during our college festival and that I would be posting it on my blog when I scan the pictures. So here goes and thats the rangoli above!! All I can say is that to see one's own creation, be it however small or big, always feels nice and especially when a lot of efforts have gone into it. And to some of my friends who thought that i knew none of the girly skills like drawing rangoli, cooking etc ...hope you are happy now;)

Corporate Soul - Book Review

Book: Corporate Soul - The Monk within the Manager
Author: Moid Siddiqui

Reading had taken a backseat with too much workload off late. At last, decided to make sometime for reading and the first book that I grabbed from the library was "Corporate Soul - The Monk within the Manager", purely because I found the title interesting. Surprisingly it turned out that it has been on the top of the best seller list in the non-fiction category.

The book begins with the quote:

Not everything that counts can be counted
And not everything that can be counted counts....
-Albert Einstein

The book speaks about spiritual management. Lack of ethical practices is increasing among corporates day-by-day and so emphasis is being given nowadays to maintain one's values at one's workplace. That's precisely why corporate governance has become the buzzword of today. The book attempts to link corporate life to Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Indian, Islamic and Christian philosophy. Siddiqui has put forth his views in lucid language and proves that business values are what make big organizations and every individual should empower himself/herself with such values to provide a strong foundation. Strike a perfect balance between relentless pursuit and personal profit is what the book tries to emphasize. It has a lot of good sayings by great philosophers, a nice read I must say.

Nursery rhymes....

This post was inspired by a chat I was having with one of my friends earlier this morning :) We were talking about nursery rhymes and he apparently didn't happen to remember any. So that made me wonder if I was the only one who weirdly remembers each and every rhyme that I had learnt:p I think "Jack and Jill", "Twinkle Twinkle" and "Humpty Dumpty" are some of the common rhymes. And not surprisingly, I remember it with the actions that our KG teacher taught us.Rhymes kind of bring out the child in us and they always make me feel happy. So here are some of the not-so usual rhymes that I remember....

1) Baa Baa black sheep...
Have you any wool?
Yes sir, yes sir...
Three bags full...
One for the master,
And one for the dame...
And one for the little boy..
Who lives down the lane...

2) Johny Johny
yes papa
Eating sugar??
No papa
Telling lies?
No papa
Open your mouth..
Ha ha ha

3) Bits of paper, bits of paper...
Lying on the floor, lying on the floor...
Make the place untidy,
make the place untidy...
Pick em up
Pick em up...

Did any of these ring a bell:p?? So lemme know any of the other not-so-common rhymes that you remember.... would be fun to bring back to life the good old KG days:)

Impressions...

A vague notion or belief or a feeling retained as a consequence of an experience, thats how an impression could be described. Its also said that "first impression is the last impression". Its all about the vibes we give to people as individuals, as a result of which impressions are formed. Sometimes the impressions formed are really baseless and sometimes they are really valid. Valid impressions are formed over a period of time as one gets to know the person gradually. In the blog world, mostly its an attempt to know the person through his/her writings. A mixture of people read my blog, people who know me personally and who don't. So here's a question for all.....

What is the impression that you get/got about me??
Describe in one word and give reason for tat.

Mod....

Ek Mod Aati Hai...
Aapse Kuch Poochti Hai...
Aap Jawaab Ke Soch Mein Ghoom Ho Jaate Hain...
Ek Mod Aati Hai...

Ek Mod Aati Hai....
Aapse Kuch Maangti Hai....
Aap Maang Poori Karne Ki Jaane Ki Soch Mein Ghoom Ho Jaate Hain....
Ek Mod Aati Hai...

Ek Mod Aati Hai...
Aapse Kuch Le Jaati Hai...
Aap Jo Woh De Gayi Us Soch Mein Ghoom Ho Jaate Hain....
Ek Mode Aati Hai...

Aur Aakhir Mein...
Ek Mod Banti Hai..
Sirf Aapke Kadmon Ki Uspar Chalne Se....
Aakhir Mein...

Aapko kis mod se Jaana Hai????

And it does help to have company while walking on these "mod"s sometimes depending on the situtation and for people who don't dare to walk or want to walk, just 1 message...

Socha tha har mod pe aapko SMS ya call karenge...
par par par par par par par.....
kambhakt sadak hi seedhi nikli!!!!!!

Deewana Bana De.....

"Deewana Bana De...", that's the famous line of SET Max channel when the cricket series was being aired on this channel. And that's the line which is coming to my mind now seeing the performance of our Indian cricket team against the Lankans. Back with a bang.....new captain, innovative experimentations, Sachin aala...old wine in a new bottle, Dhoni Ka dhona, Pathan ka style, Agarkar ka kuch kar dikhana....all factors combined has made India clinch the series with a win in Pune and now Indians have a lead of 4-0 in the 7-match series. This game is amazing....just when I thought that I was losing interest in Indians being engaged in petty politics always and will ultimately never think in the benefit of the game...4 on-the-trot wins come and I'm an addict of cricket all over again. So in short...cricket rocks!!
"Deewani Bana De....", that's the SRK effect:p Since I was not in town, couldnt post a birthday wish on my blog. I don't think I have to write more posts on him than I already have, so I'll just keep it short and sweet ...Happy Birthday SRK....and yes, u rock!!
"Deewani Bana De...", that's the effect my mom's Diwali sweets and all the items she prepared had on me. So I just hogged away. The welcome break was really beneficial and I just relaxed. By the way, Vrush...what to say....nice meeting ya is all I would like to say here:)

So in short...deewali was deewana time and not deewala time;)
