Pizza Hut Treat Blues.....

The repositioning strategy of Pizza Hut with its new treat bundles has gone kaput, according to me. My last week's visit to Pizza Hut was horrifying when I decided to try the new Rs 75 treat bundle that they have launched in which they offer appetiser(tomato soup),a personal pan pizza(just 2 choices available compulsorily) and the dessert (vanilla icecream with chocolate sauce). I had also ordered garlic bread with cheese which ended up being the only saving grace in this whole khichdi of items. The soup was nothing but a typical South Indian rasam in which hot water was poured to the brim wih huge chunk of tomatoes floating in between. The bread crumbs were harder than stone and they were readymade with absolutely no taste. The appetiser made sure that I didn't have any appetite left. Then the pizza was of smaller size with the onions and tomatoes half-cooked. Everyone around was also facing the same dilemma. So when the turn of feedback forms came, there were a whole bunch of comments asking value for money. If an outlet like Pizza Hut starts compromising on quality by reducing cost, its going to be a tough time for them ahead, especially with MacDs coming up with Rs 20 Happy Meals. A customer paying Rs 95 for a personal pan pizza will not see the Rs 20 difference for this treat-o-jumble. This way, it'll end up losing its main target customers too.
I don't know how the launch all over India is doing but this has been my experience in 3 Pizza Hut outlets in Mumbai. Anyone who love what they eat will understand why I am facing the Pizza Hut blues;)
