Thank You, Mr.Wright!!!

The year 2000 - Indian cricket was in shambles . There were match-fixing allegations everywhere, lack of trust and what was visible was a divided and a morale-lost Indian team. What they needed was someone whom they could trust, someone who could have a vision to take this team ahead. And then came this 45-yr old(then) Kiwi, called John Wright, and from that time there has been no looking back.
Cricket is such a game that it is going to have its period of highs and lows. But then there have been significant achievements since this foreign coach took over. There was the series win over Australia, then the Natwest series and then the Pak one-day and Test series win and of course, who can forget, India reaching the World Cup finals which was really the icing on the cake. The players saw a philosopher, a guide , a mentor in Wright and what was achieved was sheer magic. The coach-captain combination went off well without friction and this resulted in positive vibes among the team members too. Credit has to be given to Ganguly-Wright team for whatever heights Indian cricket, off late has seen. And the famous World Cup huddle just showed the unity..India had become a force to reckon with in cricket.
Yesterday was his last game and a win would have been a befitting farewell for him but I gues, that was not meant to be. Indian cricket is again at crossroads yet again..what remains to be seen whether newer heights are reached or not....

But thank you, Mr.Wright for turning a bunch of boys into men and showing what team spirit is....the Indian team still crumbles under pressure but at least there is no fear and insecurity now..:-)
